  • The beautiful hermitage of the Virgin of Argeme celebrating the patron saint of Coria is a Baroque style building which the visitor will find both unique and beautiful.

The hermitage of the Virgin of Argeme stands on the banks of the river Alagón and is also known as the sacred Sanctuary of Ntra. Sra. De Argeme. It is a Baroque building dating from the end of the 17th century in honour of the patron saint of Coria.

The hermitage can you can still see today consists of a part of the original as well as changes made in the 18th and 19th centuries.

It is a single storey rectangular structure, divided into three sections by rounded transverse arches resting on pilasters. The main façade includes a portico with three rounded arches. Of the original, made of plastered and whitewashed masonry, only a few fragments remain.

Some of the more important objects, such as the image of the Virgin or the main altarpiece, which were to be found inside the hermitage have been moved to the modern hermitage just a few metres away.
