  • Coria Castle, declared a site of cultural interest, is located in the Cáceres city of the same name and you can make out part of the Alagón River plains from its high tower.

The Cáceres city of Coria holds great historical heritage, and a late medieval fortress stands out: Coria Castle. This monument, declared a site of cultural interest in 1989, was built in the year 1472 by the architect Juan Carrera and is located on the northeastern part of the old city walls.

Its structure will attract your attention, as it includes a pentagonal keep, clearly of a noble nature and for defence, and a semi-circular tower. The ensemble is completed with several battlements and a semi-circular sentry box on each side, which show the coat of arms of the original owner, Mr García Álvarez de Toledo, and which you can also see over the entrance arch.

But, without a doubt, one of the best-kept treasures of this castle is in its high tower, from where it looking out over the city and a large part of the Alagón River plains.
