Ambroz Valley celebrates the autumn with a programme of activities, which are designed to help you get to know this unique place.
Even though the festival was originally conceived to boost tourism in the district beyond the summer season, with the passage of time it acquired greater importance, which led it to being declared a Festivity of International Tourist Interest. Workshops, concerts, plays, hiking routes and competitions go to make up its programme.
However, without a doubt, the event that is most looked forward to is the celebration of the great, traditional "calbotá" (roasted chestnut party), which sees hundreds of people come together to enjoy an evening in the country eating roasted chestnuts, dried figs and drink sangria, accompanied throughout by traditional music. The fact is music forms a key part of the programme, including as it does a rock festival that attracts top local and out-of-town acts.
A passion for the theatre must be added to that for music. Throughout the festivity you will have a chance to enjoy a host of stage productions, which form part of every edition's theatre programme. Fungi events, photograph rallies, fishing competitions, sports and nature days, food and drink days, are just some of the numerous activities available during the celebration of the Ambroz Valley's Magic Autumn.
