  • This castle is made up of a tower, on the top of which there is a pyramidal bell tower which gets the attention of all its visitors.

Galisteo Castle is found over the Jerte River, and was built by the Christians over the ruins of an old Islamic building. Proof of this is the coat of arms with a half moon etched in stone over the entrance arch.

The castle was rebuilt and converted into a palace, which is now called the palace of the Marqueses de Lara, built in the 15th century by order of the Count of Osorno and III Duke of Galisteo, Don Garci Fernández de Lara Manrique y Toledo.

Its bell tower building stands out, on account of its sharp finish in a pyramid with an octogonal base, which is why this tower-palace is known as “La Picota” (the Point). The preserved tower is a prismatic building of granite ashlar.
